What we can clinically provide for you & your family

  • At PSC, we have specialists and diagnostic tools to help youngsters sleep soundly, peacefully, and more efficiently. We can carry out in-lab sleep studies or in-home complete polysomnograms. While most insurances cover in-lab sleep studies for children, in-home polysomnograms are considered self-pay tests.

  • Our clinicians are specifically trained in pediatric sleep medicine at Stanford and follow stringent guidelines in the diagnosis and treatment of children. They are great with kids and help them feel safe and comfortable throughout their stay with us.

  • Studies show that poor sleep can lead to poor school performance. According to The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) sleep is necessary for brain development and optimal mental processing.

Sleep Issues
& the Consultation

Sleep issues are common in children, and it can be a concern for parents to find the right diagnosis and treatment. However, our pediatric sleep specialist is highly experienced in this field and can offer the necessary support to address your child's sleep difficulties.

Your child's sleep problems can have a significant impact on their daytime mood, attention span, and alertness, as well as affect the entire family's sleep patterns. Our specialist is trained to identify the underlying cause of the issue and offer personalized treatment options to effectively address the problem. With years of experience working with families, excellent education and training at Stanford, and being on the faculty there, Dr. Deepti Sinha has honed her skills to find solutions that improve the quality of sleep for both the child and parents.

During the in-person or telemedicine visit, we will discuss:

  • Your concerns about your child’s sleep such as sleep breathing issues, snoring, delayed sleep phase syndrome, insomnia, sleepwalking, etc.

  • Diagnostic options

  • Treatment options

  • Test results (if any)

More Information

Circadian Rhythms

A circadian rhythm disorder begins when a child’s sleep-wake cycle becomes out of sync. The circadian rhythm, also known as the internal body clock, affects the body temperature, hormones, and sleep regulation over a 24-hour period. Each person's circadian rhythm may differ slightly, but all are influenced by exposure to daylight and darkness.

Disruptions to the circadian rhythm can result in various sleep-related issues.

Insomnia in Children

Using Sleep Hygiene principles as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), our clinicians use proven methods to help children fall asleep more quickly, learn how to soothe themselves when they awaken at night, and how to keep them in bed to get more quality sleep throughout the night.
